From the artist William De La Mare: While this series references minimalist and abstract-expressionist painting, each piece is a composition of ocean waves bursting on ocean rocks.

Standing back from the photographs, the viewer does not see the water. Rather, what is seen are marks in a lightness of space. The abstraction of form, the feeling of the relationships between the black marks and the tan and the white, between the shapes themselves, become the voices that are heard.
