Pamela Shipley’s fascination with collecting items from nature - what she calls ‘data’ - started at a young age. Her process involves transferring impressions of naturally occurring data onto a porous clayboard to create mixed media paintings.
Upon seeing Pamela’s art in person, we were blown away by the detail and the overall beauty and intricacy of her pieces. We create enlarged prints of her work that truly uplift our collections.
Pamela refers to her art as a process of emergence. “When I begin a piece with my data sets, I hardly see anything. Honestly, it's a complete mess. The more I work on it, the more the art reveals itself. I don’t know where it’s going when I start, and for me, that’s an endless ball!”
Pamela invites people to interpret her art in their own way and remarks that she relishes her partnership with Fount. “Together we give people access to something mysterious from nature… Looking at the work becomes a meditative experience of discovery.”
